IRS Representation & Tax Resolution
IRS Problems Require a Plan, not Panic.
Receiving an IRS notice, falling behind on tax filings, or facing a significant tax balance can be overwhelming. Ignoring the problem rarely makes it easier.
Collins & Collins Tax Advisors helps individuals and business owners understand what is happening, evaluate available options, and navigate the resolution process with professional representation.
Schedule an IRS Resolution Fit Call
Start by Understanding the Problem
An IRS letter doesn't always tell the entire story.
Before deciding how to respond, it's important to understand what the IRS is requesting, which tax periods are involved, what has already occurred on the account, and what options may actually be available.
That's why our approach begins with understanding the facts before recommending a resolution strategy.
We don't begin by selling a particular IRS program.
We begin by determining what needs to be solved.
How We Can Help
Unfiled Tax Returns
If you've fallen behind on filing, the first step toward resolving the problem is often determining which returns need to be filed and bringing your tax filings current.
Collins & Collins can help qualifying clients address delinquent filing requirements and understand what comes next.
IRS Notices
Received a notice you don't understand?
We can review qualifying IRS correspondence, help determine what the IRS is requesting or proposing, and recommend an appropriate response.
IRS Examinations & Audits
Facing an IRS examination doesn't mean you have to navigate the process alone.
As Enrolled Agents, we can represent taxpayers before the IRS in matters within the scope of our practice.
IRS Collection Matters
When a tax liability cannot simply be paid in full, the appropriate strategy depends on the taxpayer's circumstances.
We help qualifying clients evaluate available collection alternatives and navigate the IRS collection process.
Offer in Compromise Evaluation
An Offer in Compromise may be appropriate in certain circumstances—but it isn't the right solution for every taxpayer.
Rather than beginning with an assumption that you qualify for a particular program, we evaluate the facts and determine which available resolution approach should be considered.
We Don't Sell Tax-Relief Promises
Every tax situation is different.
You may have seen advertisements promising to eliminate large amounts of IRS debt or suggesting that nearly everyone qualifies for special settlement programs.
That's not our approach.
Collins & Collins provides professional tax representation based on the facts of your situation and the options available under applicable tax administration procedures.
We will explain what we find, discuss realistic options, and help you determine an appropriate course of action.
No gimmicks. No predetermined solution. Just informed tax representation.
Our Resolution Process
1. IRS Resolution Fit Call
We begin with a brief conversation about the issue, tax years involved, filing status, approximate liability, IRS correspondence, and what assistance you're seeking.
The purpose is to determine whether the matter fits our representation practice.
2. IRS Case Assessment
For representation matters, we generally begin with a paid case assessment.
Depending upon the engagement, this may involve reviewing IRS correspondence, available account information, filing history and other relevant documentation.
The goal is to understand where things currently stand before determining what should happen next.
3. Develop the Resolution Strategy
Once we understand the facts, we identify the issues requiring attention and discuss the available course of action.
That could involve filing missing returns, responding to an IRS notice, addressing an examination, or evaluating appropriate collection alternatives.
4. Representation
When retained for representation, Collins & Collins communicates with the IRS and performs the agreed-upon work within the scope of the engagement.
5. Stay Compliant
Resolving an old tax problem is only part of the objective.
We encourage resolution clients to establish a plan for staying compliant going forward, which may include tax preparation and estimated-tax planning through Collins & Collins.
Our Clients Have a Role, Too
Successful representation requires cooperation.
During an engagement, clients are expected to:
Provide requested information promptly
Forward IRS correspondence when received
Respond to requests and deadlines
Provide complete and accurate information
Take agreed-upon steps necessary to maintain or establish compliance
We will take our responsibilities seriously, and we ask our clients to do the same.

Clarity Backed by Expertise
No. The appropriate outcome depends upon the facts and circumstances of the taxpayer's case. We don't guarantee a particular resolution before evaluating the matter.
Can you guarantee that my IRS debt will be reduced?
1
We evaluate whether an Offer in Compromise or another collection alternative may be appropriate based upon the taxpayer's circumstances. We don't begin an engagement by assuming an OIC is the correct solution.
Do you handle Offers in Compromise?
2
When Collins & Collins is properly authorized to represent you and the matter falls within the scope of our engagement, we can communicate with the IRS on your behalf.
